广州新东方版:四级考试阅读部分答案和评析
新四级考试阅读部分包括三种题型:快速阅读、选词填空和单项选择。从文章选题而言,本次四级考试所选考的四篇文章分别涉及了互联网求职安全(快速阅读)、疼痛在医学上的新解释(选词填空)、如何写作和一位女科学家讲述科学界的性别歧视问题。本文分别就这三部分的题目进行深度点评。
第一部分 快速阅读
本次快速阅读的题目是Protect Your Privacy when Job-Hunting Online, 和2006年12月的新四级考试和官方的样题的形式一致,以小标题的形式对文章内容进行了意义上的划分,这样的划分对做题时回到原文定位有非常大的帮助。
文章讲述的内容是关于现今求职是常见的网上求职方式的安全性问题。利用互联网求职在当今非常普遍,但是也会带来一些潜在问题。文章讲述的便是“身份盗窃 Identity Theft”这一问题及其影响,以及用六个小标题分别提出了六点建议。文章内容的难度低于2006年6月的Highway一文,与12月Six Secrets of High Energy People基本一致。但从做题的难度上而言,要稍难于12月的考题。主要是在于第六题和第七题定位位置与原文顺序出现了错位,第六题出题点是在第六个小标题,即文章的最后一段;而第七题的定位点是在第三个小标题。此外,最后一题填空的定位点是回到了原文首段。另外一条较难定位找到原文出处的题目是第三题 Identity theft is a minor offence and its effect has been overestimated. 这道题目原文找不到minor offence和overestimated等词,实际上是对应原文第三段R.E.Smith的一句话中。
在做快速阅读的题目的时候,考生较难判断的是NG选项,本次快速阅读的NG选项出现在第五条题目,对应原文的第二个小标题,选项中关键词most strongly recommended在原文中并无出现,同时,找不到矛盾的内容,因而该选项为文章没有提及的选项。
部分考生在考试过程中还未真正掌握快速阅读做题的方法,一拿到文章就开始读文章内容,导致最后做题的时间不足。在做快速阅读题型时,还是应该先从选项中抽取关键词回原文进行定位,本次考试十道题中有八道题属于定位非常容易的题目,因此如果平时练习得当,掌握方法,本次快速阅读拿到7~8分应该问题不大。
关于快速阅读题型,还有一点需要提醒的是,如果剩下时间大概只有3分钟,应马上做快速阅读的填空部分,从历次的填空题型看,基本上没有太大的难度,属于送分题型。考生应在考场上重点把握这部分的分数。

第二部分 选词填空
选词填空是阅读三种题型中同学们认为难度最高的一种题型。在旧的四级考试词汇与句子结构这一题型取消之后,四六级考试委员会便寄望于选词填空肩负起考察考生词汇量的任务。本次考试的选词填空文章选取的是一篇关于医学上关于如何看待疼痛的文章。考到的十五个单词中,较难的词汇包括prompting, magnificent, relieve三个,其余单词应该难度不大。所有的单词均在四级阅读历年的考试文章中出现过,因此在准备考试的过程中,可以把单词于阅读练习结合起来,把阅读过程中出现单词进行记忆即可。

第三部分 单项选择
本次四级考的两篇文章分别是关于如何进行写作和一位女科学家讲述科学界的性别歧视问题。A卷先考如何写作,B卷的顺序则相反。
第一篇文章是关于如何进行写作学习,介绍了一本叫Writing without teachers的书关于写作的方法,把写作分为了creative thinking和critical thinking两个阶段。后面的五条题目中一道是词汇题,考第一段最后一句“cannot work in parallel”的意思,其余四道题目均是细节题,其中第二题对应原文第二段,定位有一定的难度,题干中prevent from writing on与原文第二段第一句话single greatest barrier对应。第三题与原文第三段对应,讲的是free writing的目的是to get words down对应C选项to get one’s idea down。第四,五题是对应第四段。文章结构与新东方阅读教材上P72文章基本一致。
第二篇文章无论从文章内容和题目难度,均低于第一篇文章,讲的是一个女科学家在麻省理工读博士时遇到的歧视及随后心态所发生的变化。文章五道题目均是细节题,第一题对应原文首段,第二、三题对应原文第二段,第四、五题对应原文最后一段。所有的题干关键词与原文均是直接对应,其中难度最大当属第五题,对应最后一段的倒数第2句话: visual of their physics professor heavily pregnant doing physics experiment.“怀孕”(pregnant)一词对答案的选择起到决定性作用。但很多考生并不清楚该词的意思,导致无法做题。

在新四级写作部分06年6月24日和12月连续考了两次论说文之后,07年6月23日再次考到了应用文之一:告示类应用文。这是自06年6月17日老四级最后一次考试之后第二次考到告示。在北京新东方学校四级写作和考研写作课堂上,我都详细讲解了告示类应用文的写作方法和注意事项,并且推荐了一篇经典范文希望大家背诵。6月16日,我的博客上贴出了07年6月四级写作十大必背范文的最后两篇,最后一篇就是一个告示(比赛通告)。只要大家认真听课或者背过这篇告示,今年的考题会比较好写。
值得注意的是,自2001年6月至2007年6月的六年之中,四级共有15次考试,其中9次考到了应用文,包括5封书信(3封严格意义上的书信、2篇书信的变体),2篇致辞和2篇告示。应用文的考题占到了四级写作题目的60%。2004年大学英语考试委员会明确声明:“以后的国内英语考试(包括四、六级、考研)侧重考查考生英语的实际运用能力”。应用文作为四、六级、考研的重点题型,希望大家引起高度重视。
2006年1月出版的《大学英语四级考试大纲》明确强调写作格式,格式写作将会扣分。告示的写作格式与书信不同。书信讲究称呼、正文、落款三种格式,而告示则包括标题、日期、正文、署名四种格式。
书信一般不写标题,告示必须写在首行正中央写上标题,今年标题已经给出:“Welcome to Our Club”。
书信一般无需写日期,告示最好写上(如果正文中交代清楚,不写亦可),写作标题右下方,不要空行。
告示的正文可写1-3段,针对四级写作三点提纲的特点,最好写成三段,每点提纲各写一段、详细展开即可。书信中开头结尾的套句如自我介绍、写作目的、表示感谢、期待回信等等,在告示中不能使用。告示的正文时态以现在时和将来时为主。
书信的落款是个人,但告示的署名可以是个人或单位,针对考题,应写为单位:某个社团,应写在答题卡中间偏右的位置。
另外,四级写作最好采用缩进式,段间不空行,每段首行缩进4-5个字母并对齐。

Most people think of racing when they see greyhounds (灰狗) and believe they need lots of exercise. They can actually be quite lazy! Greyhounds are good at fast races but not long-distance running. They do need regular exercise but they like to run for a short burst and then get back on the bed or a comfortable seat. Many years ago, when I was fresh out of school and working in Denver, I was driving to my parents' home in Missouri for Christmas. I stopped at a gas station(加油站)about 50 miles from Oklahoma City, where I was planning to stop and visit a friend. A study of English learning problems was carried out among a total of 106 foreign students. It shows that most students considered understanding spoken English to be their biggest problem on arrival. This was followed by speaking. Writing increased as a problem as students discovered difficulties in writing papers that they were now expected to hand in. Reading remained as a significant(显著的) problem.
The information gained helped us in determining where special attention should be paid in our course. Although many students have chosen to join the course with a reasonable motivation(动机), we considered it important to note what seemed to encourage interest. Nearly all the students have experienced some kind of grammar-based English teaching in their own country. To use the same method would be self-defeating because it might rece motivation, especially if it has failed in the past. Therefore a different method may help because it is different.
Variety of activity was also seen as a way of maintaining(保持) or increasing motivation. Several years ago we had one timetable that operated throughout, but we soon found that both the students and the teachers lost interest by about halfway through the ten weeks. Since my retirement(退休) from teaching music in 2001, I have spent a good deal of time painting as an artist. I actually began drawing again in the summer of 1995 when my father died, so perhaps I was trying to recover from the loss of my father, or maybe it was just that it brought back memories of him. 提高四级阅读理解成绩的方法
1、了解文章main idea(主要意思)
做英语阅读理解就好像做语文阅读理解时一样,要知道这篇文章的主旨或者说是中心思想,对文章所讲的主旨内容和它的中心思想做到心里有数。达到一种高度——只要一做英语阅读理解题,脑子里就要条件反射的蹦出main idea,然后再去阅读问题和文章。
2、先看问题,再粗读文章
带着寻找main idea的思想,先去看一遍问题,把问题中的关键词圈出来,然后再去粗略的读一遍文章。在读的时候,不用做到每个单词都看懂,每句话都能翻译出来。只要对文章大致上有一个了解就够了,这样文章的main idea也就出来了。
要注意的是,在读到觉得跟所问问题有关联的句子的时候,可以先用笔把句子勾出来,在上边标记上有关联的问题的题号,然后接着往下读。
3、精读问题和所标记的句子
读完通篇的同时,也把跟问题有关的的句子画出来了,这个时候再去精读标记的句子,仔细研究问题和跟问题有关的句子,琢磨其意思,尽量做到胸有成竹,然后再回答每一个问题。
