Schools across the world are trying to come up with creative solutions to keep students active. Some are replacing conventional classroom chairs with exercise balls or standing desks. At Ward Elementary School in Winston, North Carolina students have adopted an innovative program that entails(需要) riding bikes while reading.
Scott Ertl came up with the idea while he was exercising and reading at the gym. Believing it would be a fun way to convince students to become more active, he placed one bike in the corner of his classroom and encouraged them to use it ring independent reading sessions.
It was so popular that Ertl decided to add more bikes and offer the Read and Ride program to the entire school. Today Ward Elementary School has a special exercise room filled with bikes that can be used by students while completing their daily reading assignments.
Besides making reading more fun, the program also helps students exercise at a comfortable pace without the pressure that comes with regular sports-related activities. It is also a perfect way to release pent-up energy ring days when the weather is not concive to outdoor activities.
Most importantly, however, are the program’s academic benefits. A year after Read and Ride was introced at Ward Elementary School, students actively involved in the program demonstrated an astounding 83% reading proficiency(能力). Those who had not taken advantage of the exercise bikes tested at a much lower, 41%.
Though the improvement in academic achievement cannot all be attributed to(归因于) programs like Read and Ride, experts believe they are a significant contributor. When it comes to health, it seems that sitting too much may be as bad for you as smoking. A study suggests that you should get an hour of exercise every day.
Researchers say the exercise can help office workers rece the risk of an early death. Many office workers spend much time seated. A lack of physical activity is linked to some 5.3 million deaths worldwide each years.
Ekelund says, “For many people there is no way to escape sitting for a long time. But we pay attention to the importance of getting exercise.” Ekelund suggests going for a run in the morning, riding a bicycle to work, or taking a walk in the middle of the work day. But if this is not possible, he suggests doing at least some exercise each day to rece the risk of disease and an early death.
For the study, researchers looked at 13 earlier studies on effect of inactivity. People were grouped according to the amount of activity they reported-from less than 5 minutes a day to up to 75 minutes a day.
The study found that those who sat for eight hours a day but got the suggested amount of exercise reced their chances of dying at an early age. These people did better than those who sat less but were not active.
Ekelund says, “There has been a lot of concern about the health risks.” He adds, “It is possible to rece these risks if we are active enough, even without taking up sports or going to the gym.”

二、看题干,带着问题读文章。
首先要掌握问题的类型,客观信息题可以从文章中直接找到答案;而主观判断题考查的是对文章的感情基调等,这类题必须经过对作者的态度、意图以及对整篇文章进行深一层的推理等。其次,了解试题题干以及各个选项所包含的信息,然后有针对性地对文章进行扫读,对有关信息进行快速定位。此法加强了阅读的针对性,提高了做题的准确率。
三、 逻辑推理,做好深层理解题。
在实际阅读中,有时作者并未把意图说出来,阅读者要根据字面意思,通过语篇逻辑关系,研究细节的暗示,推敲作者的态度,理解文章的寓义。要求读者对文字的表面信息进行分析、挖掘和逻辑推理,不能就事论事,以偏概全。推理题在提问中常用的词有:infer, imply, suggest, indicate等。
四、 猜词悟义,扫除阅读拦路虎。
猜词是应用英语的重要能力。它不但需要准确无误地理解上下文,而且要有较大的泛读量,掌握或认识较多的课外词汇。我们要学会“顺藤摸瓜”,通过构词,语法,定义,同位,对比,因果,常识,上下文等线索确定词义。 a. 定义法

阅读材料的选取非常重要,题材的多样性和时代性是两个基本要素,如上海教育出版社的《高考英语阅读理解训练与解析》,内容涉及农业、工业、科技、军事、经济、教育、文化、医疗卫生、体育、人口、环境、历史、地理、交通、通讯、风土人情、人文轶事等,同时具有时代感,包括“9·11事件”、“北京申奥成功”、“中国加入WTO”和“中国足球冲出亚洲”等热门话题,文章篇幅长短适宜,配有相应的测试题。更重要的是,书后不仅附有题目答案,编者还就重点题目进行了题目解析,力求使学生真正理解出题人的思路,掌握解题策略和技巧,提高阅读水平。
英语学习是一个日积月累、循序渐进的过程,只有通过日常的积累,有了“量”的沉淀,才能达到“质”的变化。平时我经常给学生讲阅读理解的重要性,要求他们每天坚持做一两篇阅读理解练习。一册《高考英语阅读理解训练与解析》在手,首先要在阅读中培养良好的阅读习惯,加强限时训练。阅读时第一遍采用快速阅读,记下起止时间,在读的过程中注意力高度集中,利用眼睛的扫视来提高阅读速度;对于个别生词先跳过去,而着重于对全篇中心意思的理解。阅读第二遍时再仔细通读全文,在这个过程中学习新的单词及一些固定搭配和习惯用法,并仔细体会精彩的语句。
阅读是扩大和巩固词汇量的好方法。充分利用阅读材料,可以做到一举多得——扩充词汇,增强语感,扩大知识。如果词汇量太小,想要读懂一篇英语原文是比较困难的。对于英语阅读来讲,扩大词汇量是根本的解决之道。但是,如果缺乏语言环境地去背词汇手册,既费时费力,又枯燥乏味,还容易遗忘。因此我要求学生每个人都准备一个“词汇积累本”,在阅读中积累词汇。因为通过上下文来理解单词,词义记得清楚,而且理解准确。把“词汇积累本”放在身边,利用一些零散时间反复记忆,可以加深印象。如果长期坚持阅读,又会在阅读过程中巩固记忆单词,同时再学习新的单词。这样滚雪球似的向前发展,不知不觉中词汇量就扩大了,而且也能记得牢靠。
很多学生反映,如果文章的第一段或段落中的第一句话看懂了,做题时正确率就会高很多;反之,如果文章的第一段或段落中的第一句话看不懂,做题时就会错得一塌糊涂。其实一篇文章的首段或每段的首句正是文章的主旨所在,所以我要求学生在阅读中注意抓住文章的主旨大意。对于多数文章,很多时候学生不可能有足够的时间一字一句地通读,因此必须快速而准确地抓住每个章节的主旨。通过这种训练,可以提高学生的阅读速度和答题的正确率。
对于一些地道的原文材料,我要求学生将它们背诵下来,这对于学生的写作方面也有很大帮助。学生平时的写作练习并不是很多,但有了在阅读中打下的良好基础,提笔写来就不会觉得困难。另外,还可以将精彩篇章作为朗读的材料,利用早晨或课间的时间,大声朗读。在读的过程中,提高朗读能力,增强语感。当然从侧面也提高了听力和口语表达能力。

(2)自然科学(Natural Science)有10篇
10篇中,纯而有纯的自然科学很少,只有约4篇。命题集中在科学史方面。

(3)人文科学,包括:文学、历史、哲学(还剩4篇)
分析:88--99年,11年中从未出过题。

一、题型特点
1. 体裁多样,题材各异:从近几年的高考阅读理解情况来看,文章体裁多样,题材各异,选材更趋现代化、生活化、知识化,突出实用性与时代性,涉及科普、社会、文化、地理、历史、政治、经济、人文、日常生活等领域。
2. 兼顾考查多种阅读能力:既考查字面意思的理解,也考查深层含义的理解;既考查细节理解,也考查推理理解;既考查具体事实的理解,也考查抽象概念的理解。
3. 阅读量大,速度要求高:虽然《考试大纲》曾要求阅读量不少于 1000 个单词,篇数不少于 3 篇这样一个下限,但近年来的高考试题表明:就篇数来说,高考英语阅读理解一般为 5 篇,而阅读量(短文词量与试题词量)一般不会低于2000个单词。也就是说,高考英语的阅读理解不仅阅读量大,而且要求阅读速度也较高,一般要求达到每分种60个词左右。
4. 生词增加,难度加大:近几年高考英语阅读理解的难度一直较大,除文章本身具有较大难度外,许多生词不夹注中文也是导致难度增加的一个重要原因。如2006年湖南卷的B篇阅读文章中就有不少生词,如literature, survey, detailed, decline, reliable, declining, entertainment, participation, irreplaceable, focus等。

5. 考查考生是否能根据材料所提供的信息,结合自己已有的经验常识,正确判断生词或短语的含义。
三、干扰项特点
干扰项是被设计出来干扰考生的注意力,使考生做出错误选择的选项,因此,掌握干扰项中一些常见的干扰方式对我们准确排除干扰项,确定正确的选项具有不可忽视的作用。干扰项的特点主要有:
1. 干扰项的信息与文段的内容完全无关。
2. 干扰项的信息与文段的内容不一致。
3. 干扰项的信息与文段的信息互相矛盾。
4. 干扰项信息的范围大于或小于文段中信息的范围。
5. 同一干扰项既含有与文段信息一致的正确信息,也含有与文段信息不一致的错误信息。
6. 同一词汇在干扰项中的意思与在文段中的意思不一致(偷换概念)。
