有人希腊人号称会讲几国语言，英、德、法、意都能说几句。等到雅典才算初步领教了一般希腊人的水平。头天住进旅馆，第二天一大早便坐车出门在市中心转转，据说那是旅游者比到之处，想来用英语打听路应该不成问题。谁知到哪里才发现根本不是那么回事。

两个月后，我把图书馆的几个人都逼得能说点英语单词了，而我也在积极学习希腊语，于是这谈话就更热闹了。常常是英语说不明白希腊语上，语言不通手势补充，而且谈话内容也越来越丰富，从当地的风土人情，到中国人的日常生活水平，从汽车价格到房产地价，所有两个国家间的相互比较，都可以相互交流，甚至有次还向丽娜传授了中国菜的做法。在希腊要想提高英语水平恐怕是不可能了。最让人担心的就是回国后满口希腊味的英语怎么想学生交待。
