一、地址综述
名片的主要功能是通联，所以在名片上写上详细的家庭或单位通讯地址是必不可少的。如下例：
住址：浙江省台州市黄岩区天长路18号201室
翻译成英文就是：
Address: Room 201, 18 Tianchang Road, Huangyan District, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province.
对照上例，翻译时有几点需要注意：
中文地址的排列顺序是由大到小：×国×省×市×区×路×号，而英文地址则刚好相反，是由小到大：×号×路(Road)，×区(District)，×市(City)，×省(Province)，×国。
地名专名部分(如"黄岩区"的"黄岩"部分)应使用汉语拼音，且需连写，如Huangyan 不宜写成 Huang Yan。
各地址单元间要加逗号隔开。

二、行政区划英译
行政区划是地址中最高一级单位，我国幅员辽阔，行政区划较复杂，总体上可分成五级(括号内所注为当前国内通用译名)：
1.国家(State)：中华人民共和国(the People's Republic of China; P.R.China; P.R.C; China)
2.省级(Provincial Level):省(Province).自治区(Autonomous Region ).直辖市(Municipality directly under the Central Government, 简称Municipality);特别行政区(Special Administration Region; SAR)
3.地级(Prefectural Level): 地区(Prefecture).自治州(Autonomous Prefecture).市(Municipality;City);盟(Prefecture);
4.县级(County Level)：县(County).自治县(Autonomous County).市(City).市辖区(District), 旗(County)
5.乡级(Township Level):乡(Township).民族乡(Ethnic Township).镇(Town).街道办事处(Sub-district)。
应用举例：
(1)上海市崇明县中兴镇 à Zhongxing Town, Chongming County, Shanghai (Municipality).

三、行政区划英译分析
以上行政区划英译大多数是国内普遍接受的，但尚有部分存在争议，现分析如下：
1.关于"市"的英译。
我国的"市"层级复杂，从上而下有三个级别，目前较通行的做法是将"直辖市"译为Municipality ,地级市有些人译为Municipality,有些人译为City, 县级市一概译作City。
笔者以为，如果从城-乡对比及城市功能角度去阐述某一个市，毫无疑问所有的城市都可称作City，上海也可称作Shanghai City或者City of Shanghai。但如果从行政区域概念去翻译某个市就另当别论，直辖市译为Municipality，县级市译为City,是板上钉钉不可更改了，问题出在中间的地级市上。
Municipality的释义是: 1. a city, town , or other district possessing corporate existence and usually its own local government. (引自《韦氏辞典》)
从上述释义可以看出，Municipality的适用范围很广，可大可小，大至我们的直辖市，小至一个小城镇。
在英.美两国，Municipality不作为一级行政区划，一般以"市政"含义和City混用，但在世界许多地方，如菲律宾.以色列等国， Municipality 经常被用作省一级或省以下行政区域名称。
在加拿大，Municipality也作为省下的一级行政区域，如在安大略省下就有一个滑铁卢地区市，叫作Regional Municipality of Waterloo，该地区市下又辖8个自治市--Municipality(在加国，人口较多的Municipality 叫作City)。
由于我国地级市具有管辖县级市的功能，这样就出现了City管City的尴尬情况，而且City还要管辖广阔的农村County，与世界各国大都把 City限制在城市范围的做法不统一，比如在日本和美国都是County下包括多个Cities，跟我国刚好相反。
据此，笔者赞同将行政区划意义上的地级市及直辖市译为Municipality(直辖市全称是Municipality directly under the central government)。 而将市本级--市辖区，即功能意义上的城市译为City。
如上例："上海市崇明县"应译成Chongming County , Shanghai Municipality.
但"上海市南京路"可译成Nanjing Road, Shanghai City。
再如：杭州市是一个地级市，所以"杭州市政府"宜译成：Hangzhou Municipal Government, 但："杭州市是一个旅游城市"宜译成：Hangzhou is a tourism city.
应用举例:浙江省台州(市)温岭市大溪镇à Daxi Town, Wenling City, Taizhou Municipality, Zhejiang Province.
四、略写和缩写
地址的表述务求简洁，故应在达意的基础上尽可能采用略写和缩写形式。
五、行政区域通名可省略
中国人写地址喜欢将省或市等都注明，但按英语习惯，则可以省略;况且，省一级及较大的市大家都熟知，其后的行政区域通名完全可以略去而不致引起理解困难;如果需要进一步简化，则以此类推，可将一些县甚至镇的区域名也省掉。
如：中国浙江省杭州市余杭区××乡
××Township, Yuhang, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, P.R.C.
六、在地址中间可直接插入邮编。
我国的通行写法是将邮政编码另起一行，前面标上"邮编(Postal Code; Zip; P.C.)"两字，但英美各国的惯例却是将邮编直接写在州或城市的后面，如：
美国：1120 Lincoln Street, Denver, CO 80203，USA
(中译：美国科罗拉多州丹佛市林肯街第1120号，邮编：80203)
注：CO是美国Colorado 州的缩写，在跟邮政编码合用时，州名一般均以缩写形式出现。
英国：60 Queen Victoria Street， London EC4N 4TW
(中译：伦敦维多利亚女王大街60号，邮编：EC4N 4TW)
由此，我们的地名如果也参照英美各国的方法，将邮编插入到地址中间，可以节省大量空间。

七、省市缩写
由于有了邮编，所以城市或省的专名也可采用缩写而不会造成混乱，除了香港(Hong KongàHK).澳门(MacaoàMO).台湾(TaiwanàTW)，我国大陆各省一直没有广泛认同的英文缩写。可喜的是，为扩展互联网域名资源，信息产业部于20xx年十一月二十二日发布了《关于中国互联网络域名体系公告》，公告中首次开放行政区域类二级国内域名，给全国34个省(市.自治区.特别行政区)规定了二个字母的代码;笔者认为，随着互联网的深入发展，该代码将自然而然地成为各省区的缩写名称，可以放心使用;信息产业部采用的代码与英译名缩写基本上吻合，只有内蒙古(英译：Inner Mongolia, 缩写：IM,而信息部的代码是利用了纯汉语拼音，为NM).(英译：, 而二级域名使用的仍是汉语拼音XZ)两个词出现不协调现象，但这并不影响该缩写系统的推广。

居于地址体系的中间位置的是一些传统的村居街道及新兴的各种小区.新村.工业区等，其中?quot;村(委会)"."居(委会)"既是区域名称，又是行政体系的基层组织名称。
九、楼房室号的表达
地址的最低一级涉及到对具体场所的命名及房号的'标注。如：5幢302室.3号楼2单元102室。
这里的"幢""栋""几号楼"实际上是同一回事，一般均以Building… 来表示;"室"一般译作Room 或Suite。
上述两例可分别译成：Suite 302, Building 5;Room 102, Unit 2, Building 3。

国内地址的英文地址填写，很多人其实在填写的时候都有一个误区，他们都希望把地址填的越地道越好，就像我上面写的。但我们应该问自己一个问题，地址填完以后到底是做什么用的？
假如你的地址是北京市朝阳区建国门大街23号楼302室，那地道的美国人会写成：
#302，23 Jianguomen Avenue, Chaoyang District, Beijing, 100000
举例说，如果你是申请学校，学校最后会直接复制你的地址，然后打印在快递单上快递公司看到China，便会带着给你的Offer飘扬过海送到中国，在中国再由中国人分拆，看到Beijing就再送到北京，到了北京后分派给邮递员来送递。这整个过程中，没有一个外国人会去研究你的地址，更不要说你写的地道与否。所以写的太地道的结果就是给你送快递的小伙子会对着你的地址头痛。
所以，写英文地址时建议除了把城市放到最后，其余按照中文规范，正常用汉语拼音填写，不要发明诸如 建国门外大街（Jianguomen Outer Street)这种英语地址。回到上面的例子，写成下面这样就完全可以保证寄到了：
