"Save it for rainy day." That's my motto. When I have a choice between spending my money or putting it in my savings account at the bank, I always put it in the bank.I will have a lot of expenses in the future like my ecation, travel, and unforeseen emergencies. I need to have money set aside for these expenses.
Ecation is expensive. I can't depend on my parents to pay all my bills. I have tuition, room and board, books, and incidental expenses to pay for. I'll try to get a scholarship to cover some of these costs, but I know I will be responsible for a lot of the expenses. If I spend my money now, I won't be able to pay for my ecation. I need to save money for my ecation.

微博没有流行前，网络力量介入现实生活也不乏其例。2009年的邓玉娇刺官案就是如此，不仅拥有网络舆论的支持，在事件发生后，还有网友“屠夫”等人亲赴事发地参与调查，并及时向媒体和网络通报进展。“屠夫”当时就告诉记者，他能够突破阻碍亲自见到邓玉娇本人，也在于网络舆论的推动，因为医院正面临网友的大量批评，他们也需要自证清白。
“屠夫”的实地调查又进一步吸引了网络的关注，而传统媒体也接力报道，以至于案件最后判决邓玉娇的行为构成故意伤害罪，但免除处罚。这个不尽如人意的结果虽然未必获得网络的全部认同，但也没有人深究。这在湖北华中科技大学法学院梁木生教授看来，也是有标志性意义。
他说，舆论确实不应该干涉司法，但是可以帮助真相浮现出来。网络舆论之所以被放大，是由于其他渠道的匮乏，因此梁木生建议建立理性化解社会矛盾的平台和渠道。“社会需要多种声音疏导，对于目前的网络舆论应该予以克制和宽容。”
但是另外一方面，网络的亢奋也容易造成对个体当事人一些权利的伤害，比如人肉搜索就是争议较大的问题，也一度有地方试图立法禁止人肉搜索，不过，效果并不明显。日前，受深圳市人大法工委委托，深圳市律师协会正在起草的《深圳市个人信息保护条例》一出，引发了关注和热议，而这也不是关于这一话题的第一次热议。
通常认为，在舆论监督的范围内，人肉搜索是合情合理的，这对于预防和揭露贪污腐化都有着积极的作用，比如像抽天价烟的腐败官员被查处就是人搜积极的结果。因为像公务员、政协、人大等职能部门相关人员的信息本来就应该更加透明化，不过，公众也担心普通公民的隐私内容被泄露，认为这应该和公职人员区别开来。
事实上，无论是被称为“人肉搜索第一案”最后的判赔，还是一些网络误伤的及时反省，都让公众意识到网络对应的“权力”其实也是一把双刃剑。以群情激愤的“我爸是李刚”案为例，网民也在批评肇事者李启铭及其父亲李刚，乃至该校校长时，也有批评李启铭的女朋友——认为她应该规劝肇事者投案自首——不过，网络上对此也有分歧，最终还是将火力集中在肇事者身上。
这一现象在唐亚林看来，“丑恶现象出来以后，大家一方面要去抓社会根源，另一方面要就事论事，带着理性态度去分析。社会应该形成理性平和、开放包容的社会心态。”他认为可以考虑从立法上解决公民权利受限制和公民利益维护的平衡问题，要呼吁全社会都遵守法律制度的精神。
