rather than, prefer 與 would rather 的區別

在英語中，表示「偏愛」、「優先」、「更喜歡」、「更可取」或「寧願」等意思時，可用prefer，would rather和rather than來表達。三個詞之間在表達和用法上的異同如下：

①rather than必須連接兩個平行結構，即並聯兩個詞（如名詞、代詞），兩個動詞不定式或並聯兩個短語或分句。

②當rather than並聯兩個動詞不定式時，後一個動詞不定式一般省略to（在比較正式的文體中也可以保留to）。

①prefer之後用動名詞結構表示一般性偏愛，強調一種事實或一件事。

②當prefer之後帶兩個動詞不定式表示「偏愛…勝過…」時，用rather than連接。Rather than之後可以有兩種結構：省略to的動詞不定式和動詞的ing形式。

②would rather還可以與than連用，構成「would rather+省略to的不定式+than+省略to的不定式」結構。

③would rather之後帶從句時，從句中的謂語動詞用虛擬語氣，即用過去式表示現在或將來的意義，用過去完成式表示過去的意義。

④一般來說。would rather之後跟動詞原形表達的意思是「偏愛，寧願」，但如果其後跟動詞hope，think，like，enjoy和have等時，would rather則含有「很，非常」的意思。請比較：
