B. subway、metro和underground的差別

1、詞義不同

Subway是一個合成詞，其中sub表示「在……下面」，在地下的道路，也就是地鐵。在中國，只有少數幾個城市的地鐵成為subway。

英式英語的用法中，subway大多指「地下過街通道」，並不一定表示地鐵。

Metro這個詞源於法語單詞métro，它作為地鐵的口語化表達，完整說法是metropolitan railway，從字面上看就是城市裡的鐵路，來自於法語chemin de fer métropolitain。
