ever用作副詞,意為「曾經、以前、無論何時、總是」等.其用法比較靈活,現歸納如下：
一、用於一般疑問句,意為「曾經、這以前」現代漢語中一般不譯出.
Does she ever go out at night?她通常晚上外出嗎?
Have you ever been to Beijing?你曾去過北京嗎?
When you were working there,did you ever meet a foreigner?你在那裡工作時曾見過外國人嗎?
注意1．ever用於疑問句時,其答語中不用ever,若否定則用never.如：Have you ever heardthe song sung?Yes,Ihave．（No,Never．）
注意2．「Did you ever．．．?」有時單獨使用或用於反問句,表「驚訝、憤怒、懷疑」等.如：
Did you ever hear such nonsense?你真的聽到過如此胡言亂語?

二、用於否定句,意為「無論何時都不……,至今不曾……」.
