一,為什麼要學英文
於地球村的世界裡,交流是必然的,因此我們必須學好英語這個國際通用的語
言,才能讓我們走向國際化的世界.並且有專家指出使用二種語言以上的人罹患
老年痴呆症的機率明顯比一般人來得低,因此學英語是最好的選擇了.既可降低
患病機率,又可具有邁向國際的基本能力,何樂而不為呢
二,英語的重要性
學英語不只是為了國際化的需求,更重要的是為了我們自己本身知識的擴充.這
又怎麼說呢 因為西方的科技領先我們,進步且有許多好文章,好的研究叢書都
是用英文寫成的;為了能進一步探索研究,擴展們我的知識與專業技能,首先必
須學好英語,才有辦法不假他人之手翻譯,而能得到最真實的第一手資料.
01.英語口語的重要性
在全球經濟體系中,英文成為重要的溝通語言,要與世界接軌,流利的口語能力
勢將成為重要的關鍵.雖然,有多數國人的英文讀寫能力相當不錯,但口語的表
達和理解能力,對於大多數台灣人而言卻是一大礙.因此,在這個競爭愈趨激烈
的市場上,英語口語能力便成為英語教育中非常重的一環.今日,台灣的英語教
者,不要只是要著重英語的讀寫技巧,應該體認到提升學生聽說能力的重要
性.(注一)

02.英文重要,中文系也要用英文上課
元智大學不僅要求學生必須修滿四分之一英文上課學分,甚至連中文系也開了全
英文上課的課程,希望讓學生畢業後曉得怎麼用英文介紹中國文化.(注二)
三,肯下工夫就會成功
我們常說學習一件新事物很困難,但只要抱持著不懈的決心與毅力,終究能實現
學成的夢想.倘若只是嘴巴上說說,永遠也不可能踏出重要的第一步.舉例來說:
比那有錢的和尚考慮東考慮西,嫌這不足,嫌那困難,遲遲不肯踏出步伐,終
究沒有成功的一天;反觀那位窮和尚,只憑著一隻缽,一雙腿,靠著沿途化緣,
懇求幫助,終於憑著恆心與毅力成功從南海歸來.因此只要肯按部就班,循序漸
進,就一定會成功的.
四,學英文應有的態度
在台灣的教育型態下,學生大多數的考試,閱讀,寫作的能力不錯,但在聽力與
口語溝通能力上就只能用「差」來形容了.許多高中生,大學生甚至不敢和外國
朋友說上幾句英語,只因他們的口語能力不好,但愈是如此就愈不敢開口,口語
能力也就一直爛下去,不會進步.學而至此,又有何用呢 記得我在某篇報章上
看過以下的說法,「你會因為外國人的中文說得不好而嘲笑他嗎 如果你的答案
是『No』,那麼你覺得外國朋友們會因你的英文說得不好而嘲笑你嗎 想要進
步,最重要的一點就是要不怕丟臉.」看了之後,我突然覺得豁然,因為這是一
個很簡單卻需要勇氣去承認,去實行的問題,只有放開自我,才能得到更多.
01.不放棄英文
要學好英文,游政琦的第一條經驗守則就是不要放棄它,不論你的英文在過去有
多爛或平平的像早餐的蛋餅一樣,只要你有動機想學好它,你就把過去考不及格
或其他受折的陰影給掃到一旁,就算學得再怎麼不理想,別忘了,你早已經比一
些美國的文盲人士還多背了一些單字了.要先對自己有信心,然後才能持續進行
這種令你快樂的英文才會快樂的學習過程.(注三)
02.學英語的正確方法
想學好英語並不是只看課本就夠的,還需要多讀課外讀物,如:英語雜志,英
語小說,……等等,雖然這也是眾所皆知的事,但卻很難真正去實行吧!畢竟

這其中所受的苦與挫折並非所有人都能熬得過來.但倘若我們能拿出自己的恆
心,並選對學習方法,我們就可以快樂學習,輕松獲得.第一步先選一些自己
比較熟悉的英語故事書(如:白雪公主,灰姑娘,伊索寓言)做為培養閱讀課外
書的習慣,一來單字較簡易,二來內容又頗為引人入勝,若再加上多聽朗讀
CD,並且跟著開口說,如此一而再,再而三周而復始,日子一久英語能力便
會在無形中慢慢地增長,進而有了深厚的基礎.爾後再加上多多閱讀英語雜
志,報刊,多看,多背一些新單字,增加自己的單字量,並多和同學進行的常
生活上的口語對話或和傳教士們聊天,如此一來英語能力可就會頂呱呱了.
03.勇於開口
其實,一個人的單字或文法能力有多強,外國人並不一定很清楚,因為這是的好
壞,那就大大不同了,你說得好,大定都會看得到,所以,這方面能力強的話,
的確是會吃香不少.只要你能表達出來,且勇於表達那就是好,而且你愈敢說,
你就愈得到他人的回應,而愈得到他人的回應,你就愈有自信,說穿了,要講得
,你就必須先要敢講,而且是大聲地講.(注四)
參●結論
如同前言中提到的,台灣只是個小小的海島,因此需要大量依靠國際貿易來維持
人民的生計,畢竟台灣的土地有限且又多山,再加上大量的工廠和住宅佔地造成
僅剩不多的農地,因此甚至還要進口糧食才足以供台灣人民食用.而且現今世界
上有許多國家使用英語當官方語言,例如:美國,英國,澳洲,新加坡,菲律賓……
等等,所以想和那些國家貿易就必須先學好英文,否則一切就免談啦!另外學好
英文的另一個目的,就是用英文介紹中國文化,把中國文化的優點傳出去,讓全
世界有目共睹仿效我們的優點,而我們也能透過英文學習他國的好,改正我們自
己的缺點,進而真正達到文化交流的最終目的:使各國都能以他國為借鏡,讓錯
事別一而再,再而三的發生,使各國都可比現今更進步.

一、多採用Top-down閱讀法
自上而下（Top-down）閱讀是從語篇整體出發，把注意力集中在通過文字元號獲取信息上，即按文章所給的標題先對文章的內容與含義作出推斷，理解作者所要表達的意思。
運用自上而下的閱讀法的關鍵是培養學生預測、推斷文章內容和含義的能力，從而提高閱讀理解能力。
通過略看文章的總體結構安排或文章的標題來預測文章的內容及深層含義，可從下列幾方面去推測：
1.文章寫了哪幾方面的內容？
2.作者將從哪幾方面來闡述？
3.內容將如何發展下去？
在閱讀時要注意不同的英文文體，因為文體對信息的組織和布局模式有著重大影響。訓練掌握各種英語文體的結構特徵，有利於歸納文章和進行邏輯推理。例如：記敘文以敘事為主必定有三個要素：情節、人物和背景。情節的發展多以時間、地點的轉移為線索。因此，閱讀記敘文時，必須抓住時間這條線索，以人物為中心，弄清故事的發生、發展、結局。再如議論文和說明文有一個共同點，就是段落大多有主題句（較多地出現在段首或段末），要抓住主題句，發掘每一個主旨，弄清文章的中心論點，以便更加詳細地預測文章的內容，吃透整篇文章的表層及深層含義。
二、正確處理好精讀與泛讀間的關系。

閱讀是對書面信息進行認識構建的心理語言過程，了解這一過程對提高閱讀效率起著決定性的作用，此過程至少可分為三大層次： 1、字面理解層（Literal prehension Level）：這一層是指讀者僅僅理解文章的字面意義，辨認和回想文章大意、細節、事件發生的順序、人物特徵和因果關系等。 2、推論理解層（inferential prehension）：這是讀者根據文章的結構，從字里行間推測詞義、文章大意、事件發生順序、細節和人物特徵的過程。
3、評論理解層（evaluative prehension level）：這是讀者憑借自己的閱讀經驗和語言能力、分析、評價文章的優劣的過程。如評估信息的確切性，事件發生的可能性以及證明事實的可信性等。
上述閱讀理解的三大層次有助於我們認識它們在閱讀過程中相互間的關系和作用。字面理解層主要依靠語法能力或語言能力完成；推論理解層主要依靠閱讀技巧和語言能力來完成；而評價理解層則是讀者與作者的觀點融合的過程。
二、向學生介紹提高閱讀理解能力的方法： 1、不斷擴大詞彙量。語言的學習是語言知識積累的過程。
要求學生進行詞彙的積累，能為今後的再學習奠定基礎。擴大詞彙量的具體方法有：①利用構詞法猜測生詞意義。
常見的詞綴有-,im-,un-,dis-等前綴及-or, --ist,-tion等後綴；同時，也可利用轉化法及合成法。這是擴大詞彙量，提高閱讀理解能力的好方法。
②利用語境，分析句子結構的關系，結合常識來推測詞的意義，如同位語關系、反義關系、因果關系等，對文章句子理解的基礎上猜測詞義，加強閱讀理解的能力。③運用歸納法，即把同一類詞歸納在一起，如把有關貨幣與金融的詞彙、文藝與體育的詞彙歸納在一起記憶。

這些知識要求學生在日常的學習英語過程中，要善於積累，不斷地了解各國的情況，拓寬語言學習的知識面，增加自身的背景知識。 4、熟練掌握閱讀技巧。
①摒棄那種先看文章後看問題再看文章的作法，採用先讀問題後看文章。兩者比較，後者不僅少看一遍文章，節約了時間，而且後者這種有目的，閱讀效率更高。
②採用由下而上的閱讀方法（the bottom -upapproach to reading）。讀者通過從小的單位著手，如：單詞、片語、句子、段落，先理解他們的意思。
