在英語教學中常會遇到科技英語文章,科技英語包含大量事實信息,因此學生即要從課文中獲取信息又要透徹地理解課文。這就需要學生知識量要大,也要有方法。學生在閱讀時會遇到跡知以下幾點問題。
(1)詞義的理解在閱讀材料時一個棘手的問題就是遇到生詞,下面就談三個方法幫助學生理解。
1)查詞典,這是最好的途徑,因為查詞典能找到詞彙的精確含義,但教師必須教學生如何更有效地使用詞典,查出生詞的准確意思。這種方法的不足之處是攏亂閱讀的連續性。
2)利用構詞法破解,看看基本的詞干,或前綴,後綴的基本含義猜出生詞的大致含義。
3)根據上下文的線索找出含義,文法是從生詞周圍的詞,片語、短詞或標點符號中找,有四類。①定義:術語在文章中很容易被下定義。②經驗:利用學生的經驗來猜想詞義。③對姿桐消照:當兩個詞對比時,其中一個詞是已知的話,另一個詞就容易得如了。④推斷:足夠的線索有助於猜出生詞詞義。
以上三種理解詞義的方法很重要,要鼓勵學生分析詞彙,利用上下文線索獲取生詞詞義,後兩種方法行不通時,就需要了。
(2)句子的理解方法當學輪晌生閱讀科技文章時,可能每個詞都認識,但整個句卻理解不通,特別是長句和復雜的句子,因此影響理解,以下是四種:1)句子分析:當遇不理解的句子時首先要拆解句子。識別出句型,找出主導動詞,中心主語(不包含修飾語),如果動詞後面跟賓語或補語時,必須找到中心賓語、補語。2)標點認識線索:象詞彙一樣,標點符號也能表達作者的思想,因此學生要通曉標點的含義及用法,用這些知識來判斷詞彙及全句的含義。3)認識相應詞語:科技文章中常用相應詞語,為了避免重復,這些相應詞語包括人稱代詞,指示代名詞,和名詞method,technique,process等等。4)認知信號語:句子中的信號語是一個詞或短語在句子與句子之間,段落與段落之間起一個承上啟下的橋梁作用,學生會有時沒認識到這些詞語的重要性,結果閱讀理解文章時就出現了困難,因此要徹底弄清這些詞語表示或指示的含義。以下就是常見到的信號語。
①表附加的and,as well as,and also,besides,apart from,in addition to,moreover,furthermore。②表因果關系的accordingly,hence,e to,as a result,so , therefore,thus,as a consequence,so that,with the result that,because of,owing to,in view of,on account of。③表條件的if,when,unless,provided。④表對照的but,though,although,still,yet,despite,even though,in contrast。⑤表假設的possibly,probably,perhaps。⑥表對比的like,unlike,likewise,in the same way,in the same manner,similarly。⑦表強調的above all,particularly,especially,in particular。⑧表順序的in the beginning,first,later,then,next,later on,eventually,ultimately。⑨表舉例的for example,that is,namely,such as。
(3)段落分析學生們有時每句話能理解,但段落大意卻說不清楚,這是因為對段落結構不太了解,因此必須弄清段落結構及給出的信息,有四種方法有助於理解段落的含義。
1)找論題目:學生要弄清段落是關於什麼內容,很可能一句話或一個詞彙就概括了本段的內容,那麼這句話或這個詞彙被稱為論題,論題簡潔准確。
2)找主題思想,如果一個段落沒有主要的論題句,學生必須學會自己組織語言來描述段落大意。
3)找主要例證:學生要學會找到既能體現主題思想的例證,也應知道這些例證的作用,例證有許多種。①下定義例證:這些例證通過分類來展開主題思想,學生就掌握這種分類類型,信號詞如下:as follows,furthermore,moreover,also,and,either…or,neither…nor,in addition,first,second,next,the other,another。②解釋例證:這種例證展開主題思想是通過解釋和描述,一般說來是說明程度大小,形式、性能和功能等。③舉例例證:這種例證是通過事實例證,信號詞如下:that is,for example, for instance,such as,include。④對例證:這種例證是通過比較物體或概念的異同,信號詞如下:like,unlike,similarly,in the same way,in the same manner,likewise。⑤因果例證:通過因果關系展開主題思想,信號詞如下if,in consequence,consequently,so,as a result,therefore,for this reason,thus,since,because,accordingly,hence,the cause,the effect,the result,that is why。⑥再陳述例證:通過另一種方式重復論證闡述主題思想,信號詞:in other words,that is,in conclusion,in brief,in short,etc。

一、科技英語的文體特點分析及其客觀性
科學英語的文體語言特點決定了其翻譯的客觀性。文體學是一門運用現代語言學理論和方法研究文體的科學，是一門研究語言的表達效果的學問。20世紀70年代，韓禮德在他的系統功能文體學模式里，主張把語言連同社會和人一起加以考察和研究，提出了「語域」理論。韓禮德的"語域"是指使用特有的一種語言(如科技英語本文由、商務英語)的社會文化群體。由此可以推及科技英語是科學技術文化群體中所特有的一種英語，是現代英語的一種功能變體，其與普通英語( English for general purpose)的差異，不僅表現在目的和意義方面，而且表現在詞語用法、句子組成和篇章的構建方面。而在科技英語中，普及科普知識，完整傳遞科技信息，清晰明確描述科學問題，准確表達客觀規律是科技英語的基本要求與重大作用。其語言結構簡潔凝練，客觀准確。其語言文體特點如下，強調其客觀性與准確性：
1.大量採用被動語態。科技人員在研究和解決科學技術問題時，總是要從客觀事物出發，注重探索事物本身內在的客觀規律，探尋和求證事實與方法、性能與特徵等。這是由科學技術的本質決定的，因此，科技文獻自然會大量採用以客觀事物、研究對象為句子主語的句式，再翻譯人員進行翻譯操作時，要盡可能避免採用第一、二人稱或施事者為主語的主動語句，以避免因過多使用這類「人稱句」而造成主觀臆斷的印象。最大程度遵循科技英語翻譯的客觀性。
2.科技文章大量使用一般現在時，英語對客觀現象的描述，而現在時的主要價值就在於表明句子或者段落中所陳述的命題內容的真實性。科技文章一般現在時貫穿始終，用來說明普遍真理，闡釋科學定義與理論，解釋方程式，公式及圖表等，目的在於給人們以准確無誤的「無時間性概念」，以排除任何與時間牽連的誤解，使行文更加生動准確。
3.在修辭方面與專業術語方面，科技英語用於准確傳達科學技術信息，使讀者客觀准確地接受理解，而不是產生無關的聯想，因此在科技英語翻譯中，不要經常出現各種修辭手法，翻譯時語法以陳述為主，語言簡明扼要，邏輯嚴密，規范嚴謹。當需要避免武斷或要表述建議，命令，禁止等意義時，也經常使用虛擬語氣或者祈使句。
英語科技術語的特點是詞義繁多，專業性強，翻譯時必須根據專業內容謹慎處理，稍不注意就會造成很大的錯誤。
綜合以上三個方面，在科技英語翻譯過程中，翻譯人員需對時態語態，詞彙語篇等方面重視，尊重原文的客觀性，忠實原文，必須保持原文與譯文的等值關系，科技文書，術語等書面文字作為科技事物中的重要文字依據在翻譯過程中必須語義確切，論證周詳，嚴格遵循客觀准確原則。如有的人把「the newly developed picture tub」(最新研製成功的顯象管)錯譯為「新近被發展了畫面管」;又有人把「a unique instant-picture system」(獨特的瞬時顯象裝置)錯譯為「獨快的圖象系統」等等。
二、從功能目的論角度分析科技英語翻譯的目的性
功能派翻譯理論20世紀70年代產生於德國.首先，凱瑟林娜.賴斯(Katharina REiss)在她1971年出版的《翻譯批評的可能性與限制》(Possibilitiesand Limitationsin Translation Criticism)一書中提出了功能派理論思想的雛形。此後，賴斯的學生漢斯.威密爾(Hans Vermeer)擺脫以原語為中心的等值論的束縛，創立了功能派的奠基理論：翻譯的目的論(Skopos Theory)。在整個翻譯過程中，應優先考慮文本功能和文本接受者。
在科技翻譯中，翻譯目的可以指整體翻譯行為，也可以指翻譯行為的結果即譯文，也可以指某一具體的翻譯單位和翻譯策略。科技英語這種信息型文本意在向讀者告知真實世界的客觀物體和現象，而語言和文本形式的選擇必須服從於這一功能。而英漢兩種語言，由於表達方式不盡相同，在具體英譯漢時，有時往往需要轉換一下句子成分，才能使譯達到邏輯正確、通順流暢、重點突出等目的'。如：
1.轉譯，此句中可以將句子的主語轉譯成漢語中的定語、賓語、狀語等。
例如：The wings are responsible for keeping the sir plane in the air.
機翼的用途是使飛機在空中保持不墜。(轉譯成定語)
2.大量使用名詞化結構
例如： The rotation of the earth on its own axis causes the change from day to night.
地球繞軸自轉，引起晝夜的變化。
名詞化結構the rotation of the earth on its own axis 使復合句簡化成簡單句，而且使表達的概念更加確切嚴密。
3.廣泛使用被動語句
例如： Attention must be paid to the working temperature of the machine.
應當注意機器的工作溫度。
4.非限定性動詞
例如：A body can more uniformly and in a straight line，there being no cause to change that motion.
如果沒有改變物體運動的原因，那麼物體將作勻速直線運動。
三、結語
綜上所述，在信息革命時代，一方面，國外各種先進科技亟待我們去了解學習，另一方面，隨著我國科技界在世界地位的不斷提升，國內的技術成果正以前所未有的速度走向國際。科技翻譯作為各國科技工作者溝通的工具，其重要作用毋庸置疑。准確掌握科技文體的特徵與風格，遵循其客觀性，盡可能使譯文接近原文，嚴禁清晰;與此同時，掌握理解翻譯理論，從目的性出發，譯出具有針對性，實用性的譯本。

科技英語翻譯的准確性是指要忠於原文，即准確表達原文內容，除此之外，還要求其文字准確無誤，通順易懂。我國著名翻譯家嚴復一直倡導的「信、達、雅」中，「信」 即「忠實」，要准確完整地表達原作者的思想內容。科技文書多是書面語言，目的是使讀者容易理解而不產生太多的想像，在翻譯過程中必須嚴謹、簡潔，決不可賣弄文字，隨意堆砌華麗的辭藻，也不要求考慮朗讀和吟誦。例如:Hot air rises(熱空氣上升)。如若譯為「熾熱空氣上升」，雖然復合中文四六駢體的傳統，但是卻破壞了科技英語翻譯的風格與規則。再如:
「Amplification means the transformation of little currents into big ones， without distortion of the shape of the current fluctuation.」
譯文:(1)放大意味著由小電流到大電流的轉變，而電流起伏的形狀沒有歪斜。
(2)所謂放大，就是把小電流變為大電流，而不使波形失真。
很顯然，兩種翻譯都是與原文對應的，但是第二種翻譯顯得更加通順、自然，貼切原作的精髓。
三、科技英語翻譯的邏輯性
邏輯特質是翻譯活動的重要思維特徵之一，它是翻譯活動不可或缺的。而科技英語的特點使得邏輯性在科技英語翻譯中顯得尤為重要的。
(一)復合句、長句的翻譯
科技文章用語表達科學理論、規律、概述以及事物之間錯綜的關系，闡述事理邏輯性強，這樣復雜的科學思維只能用語法結構復雜的長句來代替簡單句。因此，在翻譯過程中，可以按照漢語習慣破成適當的分句來理清思路，以達到嚴復的「達」、「雅」准則。例如:
The moon is a world that is completely and utterly dead， a sterile mountainous waste on which ring the heat of the day the sun blazed down with relentless fury， but where ring the long night the cold is so intense that it far surpasses anything ever experienced on the earth.
譯文:月球完全是一個毫無生氣的世界，是一片多山的不毛之地。在酷熱的白晝，太陽向它傾瀉著無情的熱焰，而漫長的嚴寒卻遠遠不是我們在地球上所能體驗到的。
該句句子結構復雜，但關系清楚，邏輯性強。句子含有5個分句，其中一個主句，另外由關系詞「that」、「which」、「where」引導三個定語從句，以及一個so…that結構的狀語從句。主從句理順後。本句想要說明的月球的特性就一目瞭然了。
(二)短句群的翻譯
科技英語中也並非多是長句，短句群的出現更顯精煉。但是在這一句型翻譯過程中，尤其需要理解原句群的邏輯關系，句子與句子之間必須反復推敲，仔細斟酌，根據生活常識和客觀道理來驗證自己的理解是否有道理，有無紕漏。例如:
「The most powerful travelling telephones are the ones used on ships. Here there is no problem of wEight， as there is on an airplane」.
如果譯成:「功率最大的旅行電話是在船上使用的。這里沒有重量問題，像在飛機上那樣」，則從邏輯上違背常識，很容易讓人誤解為船舶與飛機對重量的要求是一樣的。正確的譯文應為:「功率最大的旅行電話可在船上使用，因為船舶上不像飛機上那樣存在著重量問題。」
(三)單詞的翻譯
在科技文章中，同一個英語常用詞不僅被多個專業採用，而且含義也各不相同，因此單詞詞義的理解和選擇，要結合整個句子情境，還要藉助事理和邏輯關系，順著作者的思維順序去尋求等值的譯意。現代英國語學派創始人Firth說過:「Each word when used in a new context is a new word.」說得就是要根據上下文正確理解詞義。例如:
The colonial powers should first seek the interests of the colonized people and thus indirectly the interests of mankind.
本句由「and」一詞連接前後兩個部分，但結合上下，第二部分表示的是殖民國這樣做之後的結果，所以這里不能簡單的翻譯為「和」，正確的譯文應為:「殖民國應當首先尋求殖民地人民的利益，這樣也就間接尋求了人類的利益。」
再如:Like any precision device， the monitor of methane requires careful treatment.
本句中的「treatment」不能簡單理解為「待遇」，而要結合整個句子情境，譯為:跟任何精密儀器一樣，瓦斯監測儀也需要精心維護。
四、結語
如上分析，科技英語不像普通英語那樣具有感性形象思維，能隨便猜測大意就行。它的目的是要准確表達客觀規律，按邏輯思維清晰地描述問題。在翻譯過程中，只要把單詞理解錯，或把句法結構分析錯，整個句子就有可能南轅北轍。輕則失去翻譯的價值，重則出現巨大經濟損失或影響科技發展。因此，在科技英語翻譯過程中要嚴格把控准確性與邏輯性，再加上譯者具備的相當的科技專業知識和背景，才能保障科技英語中的原文信息准確無誤地表達出來。
功能對等理論視角下的科技英語翻譯研究論文
一、引言
隨著全球經濟信息一體化進程的不斷加快，中國與世界其他國家的技術交流日益密切。企業的發展也在不斷地引進國外的先進技術和文獻。作為一種非文學翻譯，科技翻譯逐漸成為很多翻譯工作者的主要任務。科學家錢三強先生也曾提出:「科技英語在許多國家已經成為現代英語的一個專門的新領域。」隨著時代的進步，在一些合資或外資公司甚至專門設有技術翻譯(Technical Translation)的職位，可見科技翻譯正在逐步占據著翻譯市場。
二、功能對等理論與科技翻譯的特點
從1953年裡烏(R.V. Rieu)首次提出「對等」概念。到1965年，卡特福德(Catford)提出「篇章對等」概念。即翻譯的目的就在於在所有潛在的對等譯語中尋找與原語最匹配的對等語。原語和譯語只要在所涉情景中可以互換,就可以視為翻譯對等。「對等」一直都作為一種重要理念存在於西方現代翻譯界。對於翻譯對等概念做出較為全面論述的是奈達(Eugene Nida)，他認為所謂譯文與原文的對等，主要指的是語義上的對等,其次才是是修辭和語言風格上的對等。
無論是汽車英語還是機械英語，都具備著科技英語的普遍特點，即選詞和翻譯都需要極其准確和嚴密。科技英語的語言特點非常明顯，英語科技文獻中多充斥著大量的術語。句式多為長句，無主句或被動語態
因而，科技翻譯的難點在於原文巨大的信息量，譯者專業知識的限制以及一些專有名詞的處理。「英漢兩種語言的行文結構、行文習慣完全+—樣。英文是形合結構(hypotaxis),漢語則是意合結構(parataxis),兩者在句法層面上往往很難兼容。」(何剛強)要實現譯文與原文的對等，不僅要在句式和詞彙上做必要的調整，一些必要的增刪也是在所難免的。這些都是在科技翻譯中必須要面對的問題。
三、增詞與減詞
中西方文化的差異往往會反映在語言上。例如,有很多概念或事物在中國人看來是理所當然的，無需解釋，但對外國人來講就有必要加以說明。更重要的原因是，如同傅雷先生曾經說過，漢民族與西方民族的"mentality"相差太遠。「外文都是分析的，散文的;中文卻是綜合的，詩的。科技翻譯中，運用增詞和減詞可以在一定程度上改善兩種語言的差異。由於英文是形合結構，而漢語則是意合結構，翻譯時需要補足一些詞,或是刪去一些詞，才能更好的理解原文的意思。在增刪的過程中，我們必須遵循的原則即是對等。例如，
⑴原文:For successful customer negotiations
譯文:與客戶進行價格談判
⑵原文:Independent
譯文:獨立性
例一中的for successful是修飾性詞語，這在漢語的技術文獻中是不必要的，所以譯文中刪減掉了這一意思而添加了「價格」一詞，以實現譯文的完整。例二的譯文在獨立後面加了「性」，用以使譯文更符合漢語的表達習慣，實現表意上的對等。
四、專業術語的處理
專業術語是科技英語翻譯中的另一個難點。專業術語指的是某一學科領域內的一些慣例性統一固定的詞彙。有一些專業術語在國際上是通用的，即其譯文是固定統一的，在實際翻譯過程中不能任意翻譯。如：在科技領域中的「panel」通常表示「儀錶板」的意思，而該詞在法律領域則表示「陪審員」。又如同為機械領域，「Plant」在某些公司指下設工廠，而在另一些公司卻指車間，所指范疇有大小的差異。要清楚文中專業詞彙所屬的學科領域以及在特定語境下的特殊含義，才能實現譯文與原文在表意功能上的對等。
小型術語庫的建立和平行文本的使用，是實現專業術語翻譯功能對等的一個比較有效的方法。根據原語言文本的來源，在同一領域搜集相關或相似的平行文本，建立小型術語庫或進行平行文本的比對，可以在最大程度上避免原文與譯文的偏差，從而實現真正意義上的對等。
五、結語
中國與西方國家有著不同的歷史文化和風土人情。這樣的文化差異也同樣反映在科技英語的翻譯中。在嚴謹的科技文獻中，如何在不影響原文的嚴謹性的前提下消除文化差異帶來的影響，實現譯文與原文的功能對等，對於譯者是一個需要認真對待的課題。譯者應遵循奈達與紐馬克所提出的翻譯理論，了解隱藏在科技文本中的文化差異，並設法在翻譯過程中通過使譯入語與原語的主要信息和功能對等，消除文化差異，從而在最大程度上實現譯文的優化。
;⑷ 閱讀科技類英語原著文章
科技類來的我不懂，不過要理解文化源環境的話，電影是最好的辦法。既然是看科技類的文章還能理解的話，英文的底子應該不錯。第一件事丟掉英漢詞典，那是學習語言的垃圾障礙。查詞只能用英英。我自己一直用的郎文高階。建議看原版英文電影，如果聽力不是太強的，先看有字幕版，第一次大略看，整個通讀理解，第2次逐字逐句抄下來， 然後反復模仿，不光發音，語氣語調全要模仿，就算是怪腔怪調的也不能怕丟臉。這個過程其實很類似瘋狂英語。但是確實行相當之有效。多模仿幾部就能看出效果。後面就可以看一些偏重類的電影或電視節目，網上有軟體可以看到國外電視節目的，或者找找看有沒這類視頻下載。你可以看類似科技咨訊類的節目，同樣是通讀後進行反復模仿。這樣無意識的累積大量的科技類詞彙，並且不是強制的每句都跟中文意思對上號。最重要的是你看字幕的時候，千萬不要去進行翻譯！簡單說，是直接一晃過去腦袋就知道這句話要表達什麼，而不是翻譯成中文，這個是重點！舉個最簡單的例子是你聽到APPLE腦子里出現的是個蘋果而不是蘋果這個中文詞。如果一直靠著英翻漢漢翻英的思維轉換的話，一輩子也不可能真正理解外國文化。

辯論,書本閱讀好還是電子閱讀好，我方觀點：書本閱讀好。
這個如果是辯論的話，我想應該基於以下兩點來闡述，其實這也是大多數辯論的邏輯，其實就是己方的優勢和對方的劣勢：
一、傳統閱讀的優勢
一杯茶、一本書、舒緩的輕音樂、柔和的燈光、靜謐的圖書館、一起看書的他（她），所有的這些場景，是不是想起來都讓人感觸良深？前面是一組片語，其實表達出以下的一些觀點：
1）一杯茶、一本書、舒緩的輕音樂
這體現傳統閱讀（也就是書本閱讀，以下我基本都闡述為傳統閱讀），特別是在飯後，開啟一本書，彷彿是一種與前人的交流，那淡淡的書香很讓人沉醉於懷念，這是散文的功能；若是專業書籍，在書上的標注以及對其的感悟附註，這些都是電子閱讀很難實現的
2）柔和的燈光、靜謐的圖書館
讀書，很多時候需要一種氛圍，這一點來看，傳統閱讀基本是可以完勝的，因為書本和電子顯示器不一樣，讀書的話是需要環境的，比如柔和的燈光，特別是在靜謐的圖書館，徜徉在書的海洋，彷彿你的靈魂也交予這個叫閱讀的精靈，這樣氛圍，可以很好的促進我們閱讀的情趣。
3）一起看書的他（她）
如果也非要關鍵詞來概括的話，這就是互動與情愫。那時青春年少，特別是在不遠處讀書的他（她），不經意的一撇也會讓自己感動良久，而且讀書可以彼此交流和請教，增進情感以及逐步提高自己的修養等等。
二、電子閱讀的劣勢
其實以上三點闡述優勢時已附帶有劣勢的含義，我想你可以基於以上三點自己提煉下。另外繼續補充些電子閱讀的弊端：諸如對眼睛的傷害，諸如對溝通交流的阻礙等等。
基本如此，這個論題其實並不新，好好歸納下的話想贏不難。
