Claudius II was so angry that he made up his mind to kill Vallentine.
Valentine had become friends with one of the prison guards. She was blind. Valentine sent her a note before he was killed. When the girl opened note, she suddenly got her sight. The note was signed "from your Valentine". Saint Valentine died on February 14, 271. A Pope then made February 14 a special day in memory of Saint Valentine.
