1、好處：
1）最簡單地概括就是「便利」：你可以隨時隨地進行包括語音通話、文字信息以及視頻通訊，還可以隨時上網（包括瀏覽網頁、收發郵件、看電影等），當然，這需要在網路環境下。
2）智能手機還可以拍照、當移動硬碟（現在的手機的內存都很大，也可以外置SD卡），閱覽、甚至編輯文件，某種程度上智能手機已經部分實現了電腦的一些功能。
2、壞處：
1）簡單地概括就是「依賴症」：人們，尤其是年輕人已經離不開手機，手機不在身邊就覺得心裡發慌。這已經成為新時代的一個特徵，也帶來了諸多人際、甚至社會問題。
2）部分年輕人嚴重依賴手機，隨時隨地地玩兒手機（包括和朋友聊天、玩兒游戲等），對身體、生理健康造成負面影響，例如拇指族（手/手指發麻、變形），頸椎疼痛甚至變形，眼睛視力下降等；也帶來一些心理問題，包括上面提到的依賴心理。
