除了課程本身乏味，老師課堂魅力的缺乏也成了大學生們逃課的理由。大三學生小魯說，自己逃過《近代史綱要》課，因為老師上課使用的方言，對學生缺乏吸引力。相反，《思想道德與法律基礎》這門公共課極受學生歡迎，因為該老師善將理論和實際結合，且注重和學生互動。
逃課為社會實踐
如今就業壓力大，為積累實踐經驗，兼職、實習成為了許多大學生的「必修課」，如果與上課發生沖突，大多數學生會選擇逃課，因為在他們看來，課本上的知識可以補回來，但實習機會不是經常有的。
「逃課熱」引發教師反思

學生工作者：宜堵更宜疏
為防止大學生逃課，高校常用的方法是點名，統計學生到課情況並與其綜合測評、評優評先等獎懲掛鉤。中南民族大學文學與新聞傳播學院甚至規定：一學期內無故缺課累計超過該門課程教學時數1/3者，不得參加該課程的考試，成績以零分計。
一位在校大學生告訴記者，為了應付學校點名，有學生代為簽到、很多同學第一節課上完就開溜。
從事學生工作多年的沈群香老師認為，學生逃課，原因是多方面的。既有現行的教學管理模式與體制存在一定的不足、學分與學時制混亂的問題，也與老師的教學方式陳舊古板、教學內容枯燥有關系。另外，學生的厭學情緒、惰性和跟風心理也是重要原因。
