time is running out for my friend. while we are sitting at lunch she casually mentions she and her husband are thinking of starting a family. "we're taking a survey,"she says, half-joking. "do you think i should have a baby?"
"it will change your life," i say, carefully keeping my tone neutral. "i know,"she says, "no more sleeping in on weekends, no more spontaneous holidays..."
but that's not what i mean at all. i look at my friend, trying to decide what to tell her. i want her to know what she will never learn in childbirth classes. i want to tell her that the physical wounds of child bearing will heal, but becoming a mother will leave her with an emotional wound so raw that she will be vulnerable forever.
i consider warning her that she will never again read a newspaper without thinking: "what if that had been my child?" that every plane crash, every house fire will haunt her. that when she sees pictures of starving children, she will wonder if anything could be worse than watching your child die. i look at her carefully manicured nails and stylish suit and think that no matter how sophisticated she is, becoming a mother will rece her to the primitive level of a bear protecting her cub.
i feel i should warn her that no matter how many years she has invested in her career, she will be professionally derailed by motherhood. she might arrange for child care, but one day she will be going into an important business meeting, and she will think her baby's sweet smell. she will have to use every ounce of discipline to keep from running home, just to make sure her child is all right.
i want my friend to know that every decision will no longer be routine. that a five-year-old boy's desire to go to the men's room rather than the women's at a restaurant will become a major dilemma. the issues of independence and gender identity will be weighed against the prospect that a child molester may be lurking in the lavatory. however decisive she may be at the office, she will second-guess herself constantly as a mother.
looking at my attractive friend, i want to assure her that eventually she will shed the added weight of pregnancy, but she will never feel the same about herself. that her own life, now so important, will be of less value to her once she has a child. she would give it up in a moment to save her offspring, but will also begin to hope for more years—not to accomplish her own dreams—but to watch her children accomplish theirs.
i want to describe to my friend the exhilaration of seeing your child learn to hit a ball. i want to capture for her the belly laugh of a baby who is touching the soft fur of a dog for the first time. i want her to taste the joy that is so real it hurts.
my friend's look makes me realize that tears have formed in my eyes. "you'll never regret it," i say finally. then, squeezing my friend's hand, i offer a prayer for her and me and all of the mere mortal women who stumble their way into this holiest of callings.
One day more than a decade ago, our parents with tears, smiles and happiness to greet our arrival. But when we came to the world at the moment, the parents have more of a heavy work - to take care of us. Although this is a heavy burden, but the parents have no complaints and I grew up raising. In order to give us a comfortable living environment, they are always so hard, then the effort. Small, I always treat this issue as a matter of course, because I do not understand the hard work their parents do not know. Now, I grew up, and I know with a heart of Thanksgiving to appreciate their parents, should take care, the responsibility of your parents.
Sun is just past my 20th birthday that day, I would first think of Thanksgiving is to parents, because my parents have only gives me the opportunity to savor the world of colorful and well-being of life, enjoy life happiness and well-being, is that they gave me life, gave me the care of in every possible way. With sons and daughters happy, happy most of the parents, children with depression, it is most concerned about the parents. Licking the calf love, parental love, deep as the sea. Therefore, no matter the social status of parents, level of knowledge and other qualities, they are our greatest benefactor this life is worthy of our love of the people forever.
Students might say nothing of their own blessings, but for parents, this sound a better blessing than anything, are unforgettable, are sufficient to enable them to tears!
(The Difference between Love and Like )
愛和喜歡的區別(the difference between love and like )
in front of the person you love, your heart beats faster, but in front of the person you like, you get happy.
in front of the person you love, winter seems like spring, but in front of the person you like, winter is just beautiful winter.
if you look into the eyes of the one you love, you blush, but if you look into the eyes of the person you like, you smile.
if front of the person you love, you can』t say everything on your mind, but in front of the person you like, you can.
in front of the person you love, you tend to get shy, but in front of the person you like, you can show your own self.
you can』t look straight into the eyes of the one you love, but you can always smile into the eyes of the one you like.
when the one you love is crying, you cry with him, but when the one you like is crying, you end up comforting.
the feeling of love starts from the eye, and the feeling of like starts from the ears.
so if you stop liking a person you used to like, all you need to do is cover your ears. but if you try to close your eyes, love turns into a teardrop and remains in your heart forever after.
The child' s happiness is al I-important, the psychologists say, but what about the parents' happiness? Parents suffer constantly from fear and guilt while their children gaily romp about pulling the place apart. A good old-fashioned spanking is out of the question: no modern child-rearing manual would permit such barbarity. The trouble is you are not allowed even to shout. Who knows what dccp psychological wounds you might inflict? Certainly a child needs love, and a lot of it. But the excessive permissiveness of modern parents is surely doing more harm than good.
Lax authority over the years makes adolescent rebellion against parents all the more violent. If the young people are going to have a party, for instance, parents are asked to leave the house. Their presence merely spoils the fun. What else can the poor parents do but obey?
Children are hardy creatures (far hardier than the psychologists would have us believe) and most of them survive the harmful influence of extreme permissiveness which is the normal condition in the modern household. But a great many do not. The spread of juvenile delinquency in our own age is
largely e to parental laxity.
The psychologists have much to answer for. They should keep their mouths shut and let parents get on with the job.And if children are knocked about a little bit in the process, it may not really matter too much. At least this will help them to develop vigorous views of their own and give them something positive to react against. Perhaps there's some truth in the idea that children who' ve had an excess of happiness in their childhood fail to make a success of life.

Indeed, our mothers are the persons who give birth to us, who will never abandon us whatever happens upon us. Sometimes we will argue with our mothers, because we think she doesn』t understand us, but after a little while, we always regret for the argument. Actually, she knows her babies, she just cares too much that she doesn』t expect that it will hurt her babies. As kids, we should understand our mothers, too, it is our ty to take care of her, when we are young, mothers take care our us, when they are old, it is our turn to take care of her.
Peoplealways say that father』s love is so quiet but grand that it seems like amountain. They always bury their love to children deep in the bottom of their heartsand never show it. Father seldom says I love you to their children or doessomething show it. Mother often tells us to eat more and put on more clothes, but father doesn』t. Father seldom asksyour life in school or your relationship with your friends. When you are introuble and ask suggestions from him, he would not tell you what you should dobut help you to find solutions instead. However, father still plays the mostimportant role in your life. He is always the supporter of your life. Wheneveryou need, he is always by your side. This is the way he shows his love.
Mother』s love wins people』s praises for its selflessness. In fact, father』s love is as great as that. They bury their love in the deep bottom of their hearts and will never show it. My father is of this kind. I remembered once I felt ill. Mother wasn』t at home at that moment. Father acted as a father and as a mother as well. When he came home from work, he would cook dinner for me first. The way he fed me made me think of my kind and tender mother. His eyes were full of love and expectation. I did feel a father』s love at that time.

Recently, I saw an interesting commercial ad. The celebrities asked people the question what would you do for love. I thought of this question for a while and my parents lingered on my mind. I wanted to help them share the housework, so they could be much easier. I also wanted to get progress on my study, so that my parents would be very happy.
Some people say that father loves like a mountain. Really, my father's love seems invisible, but when I encounter difficulties and storms on my way of growing up, my father's love is like a stable other shore, which I can rely on.
Father doesn't care about me as his mother does, but he cares about me secretly. Father never protects me when I do something wrong as his mother does. Every time, he scolds me severely and hopes I can learn a lesson. Sometimes, father is easy to get close to, but sometimes, I really don't want to say a word more with him. In his eyes, everything I do is wrong and not so good. For this reason, I often argue with him.
Once, I went online to look for information. These simple things were finished in an hour. Then when I saw boredom, I went to play games. About half an hour later, I was playing a rising, suddenly, my father came in, told me to read books when I had time, don't inlge in those useless online games, and then he left. I can hear him very clearly, but I think I'll arrange the time, so I don't pay attention to continue playing the game. After a while, my father shouted in the hall, "if you play the game again, you will be blind. Don't regret it!" I didn't pay attention to it, and continued to play my game. All of a sudden, the screen went black and the whole computer died. Later I learned that my father cut off the power. I am very angry, although so, but I know that I can't fight my father, so I have to go back to the room to review.
My father shut down my computer like this because he didn't want my nearsightedness to get deeper and deeper. He was addicted to online games and read more books. Looking at the computer that can't be turned on, although there is a piece of unwillingness, there is a piece of guilt in my heart. Father is right. I really shouldn't be.
I know my father cares about me, though not as candid as my mother. Father will not praise me, he does not want me to be proud; father will not spoil me, he wants me to be a strong person. My father's love is invisible, but he always cherishes my heart. His love urges me to be a strong, brave and independent person. Although I don't do it all, I still want to thank my father.
Because only father can make me understand all the truth and become the strength of my heart invisibly
From childhood to althood, our parents care about us all the time. When we fall, when we are injured, when we are sad, the first ones who come to us are our parents.
I remember once when I was ill, my parents rushed me to the hospital. Looking at my parents' anxious look, I was very pleased. Inadvertently, I saw a few white hair of mom and Dad, ah, mom and dad have changed and become old.
I seem to have seen the vicissitudes of years, the hardships of life, and their hard work for me in their body... Read and think: No, mom and dad have not changed, their love for me has not changed at all, I still feel warm and happy!
Today, I'm going to do something to make my parents happy to repay them. After repeated thinking, I decided to cook a bowl of noodles for my parents.
I opened fire first, then put some oil. After a while, I put the eggs in. The "zizizi" pot made a sound immediately. There was still a lot of oil jumping up from the pot, almost "jumping" to my hand. After frying one side, I add a small spoon of salt, and then turn the eggs over with a spatula. After frying, I put the eggs in a small bowl, and then I start to cook noodles.
I first put some water into the pot. After a while, when the water boiled, I put the noodles in. Then I picked up a pair of chopsticks and kept stirring. Then I put in some vegetables, ham sausage and eggs to cook. After a while, I turned off the fire and put the noodles in two bowls. Wow, it's delicious! I couldn't help smelling it.
I put the cooked noodles on the table, then put a piece of paper with the words "Mom and Dad, I love you" on the side, and then hid in the room waiting for mom and dad to get off work. After a while, mom and Dad were exhausted after work, but when they saw the noodles and notes on the table, their faces showed a happy smile.
Dad, you are like a big tree, shielding me from the wind and rain. Mom, you are like the sun in spring, giving me boundless light; You are like a wisp of breeze in summer, give me refreshing. In short, thousands of words into a sentence: "Mom and Dad, I love you!"

Thank you so much for raising me. I know how hard you』ve worked ring the past years. I can imagine how many difficulties and obstacles (障礙) you』ve conquered. I can imagine all the problems you have faced and all the sweat and tears you have shed to make my life better. I can fully understand what a huge responsibility it is to raise a child. You』ve been very patient with me. You』喚梁ve encouraged me and you』ve helped me. You』ve tried your hardest to give me the best things in life. You』ve made a lot of sacrifices and many difficult choices. I also know that you have great expectations (熱切的期望) of me. You want me to be very successful and happy. You want me to be the best person I can be. You want me to do great things with my life. You want me to make the world a better place. I know you have so many hopes and dreams for my future Today I want to tell you something extremely important (極其重要的) .Today I want to tell you that you don』t need to worry about me anymore. I』m grown up! I will be responsible (負責任) for my life and for my future. I will study very hard. I will exercise every day to keep fit. I will read English every morning and every night. I will make the best use of every spare minute. I will be happy, confident, positive and energetic every day! I will develop good habits and use them to constantly improve myself. I will never do anything that would harm my body or my mind.

《We students Should Do Housework》
Some parents think that it is necessary and sometimes important for students to do some housework. Housework is a kind of physical exercise necessary for mental development. Other parents, however, think that it is study that is of extreme importance to students.
Priority should first and foremost be given to study both at school and at home. Hence students should be exempt from any tedious and time-consuming housework.
I think students should share some housework with their parents. The reasons are as follows. First, doing some housework can enable the students to have some sense of responsibility.
There is a lot of housework in each family. As a member of the family, each one should do his or her share. Since a student is a member of the family, undoubtedly, he is of no exception.
In the second place, doing some housework can give the student opportunities to get to know his parents better. By doing housework, a student will know how hard it is for his parents to go to work everyday while raising a
family. He will make even greater efforts in his study later on. Finally, doing some housework can give the student a chance to do some physical exercises.
Since the student has to sit studying most of the time, this is certainly beneficial to his health. In light of the above, I strongly recommend that those who are not in the habit of doing housework start doing some right now. Your parents will be pleased and you will learn something from it.
