Offense:進攻。形容詞形式是offensive(縮寫：off.)，可以修飾其它名詞，例如offensive rebound就是前場籃板球(進攻籃板球)。
Outlet pass:搶到籃球板後的第一傳，一般都是隔場的長傳。
Overtime:加時賽，時間為5分鍾。
Palming:我們常說的「翻腕」，運球違例動作，也作Carrying the ball。
Pass:傳球。
Personal foul:個人犯規。
Pick-and-roll:擋拆戰術。籃球中的基本進攻戰術之一，進攻隊員給持球的隊友作掩護英語叫"set a pick"，然後掩護隊員向籃下移動叫"roll"，再接隊友的傳球，在無人防守的情況下投籃。Pick n' Roll是Malone和Stockton的看家本
領。以pick為基礎衍生出的戰術還有pick-and-fade、pick-and-split等。
Pick:掩護。
Pivot:a:以一隻腳為中樞腳轉動身體改變方向的動作。b:籃下，通常由中鋒控制的區域。
Playoff:復賽；季後賽，即常規賽結束後各聯盟的前八名的淘汰賽。
Point guard:組織後衛，也作控球後衛。
Position:位置。NBA中運動員被分為三個位置--前鋒、中鋒、後衛。
Power forward:大前鋒，我國常稱之為「二中鋒」。二者略有不同，「二中鋒」是基於中鋒的位置，來源於「雙中鋒」戰術，這是我們從蘇聯老大哥那裡學來的；大前鋒還是前鋒，他們是隊里的籃板能手和防守中堅。
Press:緊逼(防守)。full-court press，全場緊逼；half-court press，半場緊逼。
Pump fake:投籃的假動作。
Quadruple-double:四雙。即四項技術統計指標超過兩位數。
Quarter:節。一場NBA比賽分四節，每節12分鍾。前兩節稱first-half，後兩節稱second-half。
Rebound:籃板球(縮寫：Reb.)。
Refree:裁判。
Rejection:蓋帽。
Reverse:反身的(a)。比如從底線切入後的反身扣籃是reverse nk。
Rookie:新人，即第一年在NBA打球的運動員。
Run:連續得分。比賽中屏幕上會經常打出某支球隊12-0 run in last 4 minutes，就是說這支球隊在剛剛過去的4分鍾內連得了12分，打了個12比0的小高潮。
Salary Cap:工資上限。
Score:得分。Scorer得分手。
Screen:掩護，同pick。
Season:賽季。
Shot clock:24秒計時器。
Sideline:邊線。
Sixth man:第六人，即第一個替補上場的隊員。
Slam nk:重扣，特指雙手持球高高跳起的使出吃奶力氣的重扣，也可以是單手的重扣，這里slam表示砰的一聲，強調扣籃時發出的聲音。也作Dunk。
Squad:五人組，籃球隊的非正式說法。
Starting-lineup:開場陣容。
Steal:斷球；搶斷球(縮寫：Stl.)。
Strong side:強側。有球的一側為強側。
Substitutes:替補隊員。
Suspend:暫時中止運動員上場比賽；禁賽。
Switch:換(防)。

Transition:由攻轉守的過程。
Traveling:走步違例，也作Walking。
Triple-double:三雙，即三項技術統計指標超兩位數。
Turnover:失誤，(縮寫：To.)。NBA中專門有一項數據統計叫assist/turnover，是用這個隊員助攻數比上他的失誤數，這項統計能准確的反映一個組織後衛是否稱職。
Uniform:制服。籃球運動員的制服當然是背心和短褲了，uniform有時也特指背心。
Veteran:老運動員。NBA非常重視veteran，各球隊都把自己的veteran視作一筆財富，
veteran這個詞在NBA出現的幾率是非常高的。
Weak side:弱側。無球的一側為弱側。
Wide open:開闊，無人防守。大多數情況下戰術配合的目的就是給隊友製造wide
open，以便從容出手。
Zone:聯防；區域防守。也作Zone defense。
